On my Face Book page (https://www.facebook.com/MarkTarotNumerology/) the header shows the image of the Hanged Man from the Marseilles Tarot Deck.
My birth date is the 14th March 1956 and if you see the world through the view of the Hanged Man then you know that calculates to a Life Path 12 which is the Tarot card of the Hanged Man.
The Hanged Man has a different perspective to most others. Looking at the world upside down means that you see things in a completely different way. It has taken me a life time to accept some things and I’s thankful that I acknowledge difference with much more serenity. I don’t expect people to see what I see. It is easier to smile and move on. I do believe in time, as cycles shift and change, that my time will come around.
The Hanged Man hangs, dangling upside down. The old stories tell that he was hung with his head lowered down into a hole in the ground so that he could watch and analyse the worms in the earth below the surface. This is a very good insight into the view of the Hanged Man. He sees the messy business of life in greater detail and is prone to analysing and thinking about it endlessly. It is a natural talent that requires no effort.
The thing that zaps the Hanged Man’s energy is struggling against the ties that bind, struggling against the machine. Accepting the status quo, breathing, meditating, letting go and being at peace with the universe are essential lessons of the Hanged Man. When you engage then you play the ego’s game. Even if you are right, you can’t win, so it doesn’t matter. Accept and move on.
Being right, winning, these are things of the ego. The Hanged Man follows on from Strength who overcame the raging ego. The next stage after the hanged Man is Death, which means liberation from physical boundaries and release from the ego. The Hanged Man dangles in the balance between. The lesson is to just “be”. Stop fighting. Stop engaging in the things that don’t matter.
The path of the Hanged Man is found in the Kabbalistic World of Assiyah meaning Manifestation. Manifestation is defined as:
I find it strange that someone who hangs upside down and physically cannot do anything, is found in the world of Manifestation. What is the real meaning of this? Is it that of my own self, I can do nothing? It is not to the glory of the ego that things happen.
In the World of Assiyah, the path of the Hanged Man travels horizontally from one side of the Tree of Life across to the other, connecting the dual opposite energies of the Sephiroth Hod and Netzach. Hod means “glory & splendour”. Netzach means “power & victory”.

- “an event, action, or object that clearly shows or embodies something abstract or theoretical”.
- “the action or fact of showing something”.
- “A manifestation is the public display of emotion or feeling. Or something theoretical made real. Manifestation’s origins are in religion and spirituality because if something spiritual becomes real, it is said to be a manifestation”.

These two opposed energies need to be balanced and they will then be expressed in the next Sephira of Yesod meaning Foundation. Equally, Strength and the Hanged Man will be expressed in the path of Death which leads to our foundation. Following on from Strength and the glory of overcoming the ego, the victory and subsequently the power of the Hanged Man is just to be there and exist in subtle harmony and humble service. It is the true sacrifice of the ego. The act of not acting.
Having said all of this, now you may understand why my way of doing Numerology and my structure of the Kabbalah's Tree of Life, are very different from the established view of the world. All I know is that they work! Anyway, from now on my Blog page will be known as The View of the Hanged Man". Let's just hope it is interesting.
Regards... Mark (The Hanged Man).
