Traditional Tree vs Rectified Tree
My “Rectified” Tree of Life .provides a balanced model for life.
The traditional model is a broken, misleading tree.
Be careful of following a life model that leads you into downfall.

The following quotes are from the Sepher Yetzirah, the Book of Formation.
The Sepher Yetzirah is the blueprint for the Tree of Life.
Describing the 10 Sephiroth it says:
"They run and return like a whirlwind"
and
"Their ending is as their beginning"

On the Traditional Tree the connecting paths do not follow the order of the Lightning Flash.
In fact the paths are all over the place.
They not follow on one from the other to the next and so on.
In the Rectified Tree the paths follow the order of the Lightning Flash down and then return back up.
Look at the image of the Traditional Tree of Life in the diagram above and try to follow the pattern of the paths (numbered 11 to 32).
It is impossible to follow the sequential order of paths based upon this model.

The paths on the Rectified Tree move in an orderly sequence.
Outward & Inward They emanate from the Spiritual Source & They return to the Spiritual Source The structure of the Rectified Tree demonstrates relationships between the paths that are not revealed in the Traditional Tree. Each Path balances with a Reciprocal Path and a Complementary Path. Note that the Rectified Tree is harmoniously balanced. The Reciprocal Paths of the Hierophant (5) and the Devil (15) sit halfway between the top and the bottom of the Tree. It is significant that these two, seen as the Priest and the Anti-Priest, provide a duality of opposites that sets up a watershed in life. The Path alignments on the Rectified Tree are not achieved by co-incidence. |
The paths on the Traditional Tree do not flow in an orderly sequence.
This model of the Traditional tree does not even show the Spiritual Source. This in itself shows the lack of connection between the Spiritual Source and the Tree. The Paths emanate from Kether the Crown. The return follows the path of a serpent. |
Many authors have attempted to align the Tarot to the Tree of Life.
None have been able to do it convincingly.
The key to the correct alignment is to apply the Tree of Life to the Tarot.
Previously they have all maintained the Traditional tree of Life structure.
Then they have hung the cards of the Tarot Major Arcana on the Tree.
Like Christmas decorations.
The original structure of the Tarot Major Arcana provides the key to the Paths.
This order is found in the Marseilles Tarot.
Arthur Edward Waite wrongly changed the order of the Justice (8) card and the Strength (11) card.
Waite claimed it was something to do with the signs of astrology.
I think he was just setting up a "blind".
The ancient mysteries are all provided for those who have "eyes to see & ears to hear".
If you have been misled by Waite then it tells you something.

Emanation of Spirit
In the Traditional model the paths are numbered from 1 to 32.
The ten Sephiroth are numbered as paths from 1 to 10.
The twenty-two Paths are numbered as paths from 11 to 32.
The first actual Path on the Traditional Tree emanates from Kether and travels to Chokhmah.
There is no path connecting from the Source (Ain Soph Aur) to Kether (the Crown).
On the Rectified Tree, the first Path emanates from the Source.
This path is identified as the Fool and is numbered 0.
The Fool is often identified as "the traveller on the journey".
The Fool is the Soul.
The Soul emanates from the Source and establishes itself in Kether the Crown.
The path of the Fool 0 balances with the path of Judgment 20.
Judgment refers to the return of the Soul to the Source.
This makes sense.
Judgment aligns with the Hebrew letter Shin.
On the Traditional Tree, Shin is the 31st path travelling from Hod (Glory) to Malkuth (Kingdom).
Malkuth is the Kingdom of Man not the heavenly kingdom which is the Ain Soph Aur (the Source).
This doesn't make sense.

Daath & the fallen Sephiroth
On the Traditional Tree there is a circle named Daath.
Daath sits on the central pillar, beneath the first Sephira (Kether).
Daath is not one of the Sephiroth.
Daath means "Knowledge" and is referred to as a non-Sephiroth.
Daath appeared after the event known as “the Fall",
My research reveals that Daath appears in the place where Tiphareth (Beauty) originally was found.
This means that "the Fall" saw the fall of the lower Sephiroth on the Middle Pillar below Kether (the Crown)
This means that "the Fall" saw the fall of the lower Sephiroth on the Middle Pillar below Kether (the Crown)
Daath sits in the Abyss that formed at the time of the Fall.
This Abyss separates man from God.
The three Sephiroth at the top are separated from the seven Sephiroth at the bottom.
The main difference to notice is that the 3 lower Sephiroth on the Middle Pillar.
Tiphareth, Yesod and Malkuth have fallen down.
The connecting paths to these Sephiroth are also elongated downwards.
In my research I have found references that claim that Daath always existed.
It was covered by the Sephira of Tiphareth and was only revealed when the Fall occurred.
Move these 3 Sephiroth back up to their original positions.
The structure of the Sephiroth now matches the “rectified” Tree.
The order of the Sephiroth is now:
Kether
Chokhmah
Binah
Tiphareth
Chesed
Geburah
Yesod
Netzach
Hod
Malkuth

Tree of Life or Tree of Knowledge
On the Traditional Tree the Abyss separates the World of Emanation from the World of Creation.
Daath, meaning knowledge, sits like a black hole within the Abyss.
In essence what they are saying is that "knowledge" separates man from God.
There is an argument that the Traditional tree is the Tree of Knowledge rather than the Tree of Life.
The biblical book of Genesis explains that in the Garden of Eden there were two trees.
The Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge.
After eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, Adam & Eve were cast out of the Garden.
This was so they could not then eat of the fruit of the Tree of Life.
Otherwise they would be like Gods.
The acquisition of knowledge is of no value without Wisdom & Understanding.
Fill the black hole of knowledge.
Using this as a stepping stone, then step back across the Abyss.
Once again you have access to Wisdom & Understanding and the return to Spirit.
The gaining of knowledge is the key that rectifies the Tree of Knowledge to become the Tree of Life.
The Rectified Tree of Life is the true Tree of Life.

The Rectified Tree of Life is the true Tree of Life.
On the Rectified Tree of Life
the path of the Moon (18) travels horizontally across
from Binah (Understanding) to Chokhmah (Wisdom).
the path of the Moon (18) travels horizontally across
from Binah (Understanding) to Chokhmah (Wisdom).
The imagery on the Tarot card shows the crayfish climbing out of a pool.
This is the Abyss.
The two towers on either side of the path are Understanding & Wisdom.
The humble face of the Moon masks the shining sun.
The crayfish, representing our self, has obviously acquired knowledge.
This knowledge of our base self has enabled the return across the Abyss.
The placement of the path of the Moon at this location means that the Soul has achieved Understanding (Binah) and is travelling towards Chokhmah to achieve Wisdom.
The innovations of the Abyss and Daath are appropriate in the learning & teaching of the Tree of Knowledge.
The Tree of Knowledge becomes a means of understanding and achieving the Tree of Life.

Atziluth - World of Emanation - Spirit
The World of Atziluth (Emanation) relates to the World of Spirit and corresponds to the element of Fire.
In the beginning, Spirit emanates from the Source to Kether.
This is signified in the Tarot card of the Fool (0)
At the end of the journey, Spirit returns to the Source from Kether.
This is signified in the Tarot card of Judgment (20).
This means that the spiritual functions occur between the Source and Kether.
Kether is the Crown and is the place of Spiritual Consciousness and enlightenment.
On the rectified Tree Kether sits as the gateway of consciousness.
From Spiritual Consciousness to Higher Human Consciousness.
Kether connects between the World of Emanation (Spirit) and the World of Creation (Mind).
This makes more sense than the Traditional Tree.
Chokhmah meaning Wisdom and Binah meaning Understanding are not spiritual functions.
Chokhmah and Binah are processes of the mind.
They rightly belong to the World of Beriah (Creation).
Beriah - World of Creation - Mind
On the Traditional Tree, the boundary between the two worlds of Spirit and the Mind is the Abyss.
The Abyss sits beneath Kether, Chokhmah (Wisdom) and Binah (Understanding).
This places Chesed, Geburah & Tiphareth within the World of Creation
The Rectified Tree places the boundary at Kether.
Kether is the Gateway of Consciousness between Spirit and the Mind.
Wisdom and Understanding both relate to the reasoning and mental processes.
They are rightly balanced within the World of Creation.
The Traditional Tree has the boundary in the wrong place.
This places Chesed (Mercy) and Geburah (Severity) within the World of Creation.
This does not make sense.
Mercy & Severity are both functions of love and the emotions.
They rightly belong in the World of Formation.
The Rectified Tree places Wisdom & Understanding in the World of Creation.
Mercy & Severity are placed in the World of Formation.
This correction is achieved by bringing Tiphareth (Beauty) back up to its rightful position.
Tiphareth (Beauty) then becomes a Gateway of Consciousness.
Tiphareth (Beauty) is the connection between the mind (Higher Consciousness) and the emotions (Lower Consciousness).
The soul moves from The World of Emanation (Spirit) through Kether into the World of Creation (Mind) and commences the development of the mind through Chokhmah and Binah and then centres again on the Middle Pillar in Tiphareth (Beauty).
Tiphareth is the place of the Higher human consciousness.
With the development of the mental processes the soul has moved from Spirit Consciousness to the highest human Consciousness (self-awareness).
With the mind being rightly balanced then the creative energy flows into Tiphareth and it can perhaps be comprehended why the name of this Sephira Tiphareth means Beauty.
A balanced, creative mind is a beautiful mind that is intended for the creation of beauty.
In my rectified Tree this Sephira sits at the boundary and is the gateway between the two worlds of Creation and Formation.
The Traditional Tree has the World of Creation including the two Sephiroth of Chesed (Mercy) and Geburah (Severity) and the lower boundary to the World of Formation (the emotions) sitting below the fallen Tiphareth.
This does not make any sense.
Below Chesed and Geburah the energy moves to Yesod known as Foundation and the place of the Lower Consciousness and the Ego. The Emotional energy now passes through the gateway of Yesod from the World of Formation to the World of Manifestation. As we progress through the worlds the consciousness becomes denser, moving from spirit to higher (self) consciousness to lower (ego) consciousness and eventually to physical consciousness.
Yetzirah - World of Formation - Emotions
A similar issue exists with the two Sephiroth of Hod (Glory) and Netzach (Victory). The Traditional Tree has these Sephiroth sitting in the World of Formation – emotions and water. These two Sephiroth both have to do with human actions – a balance between instinctive action and planned action – and rightly belong in the World of Manifestation or physical action. The correction to the Traditional Tree through my process of rectification sees these Sephiroth, their functions and World processes correctly aligned.
Again with the last Sephiroth Malkuth (Kingdom) and the World of Manifestation, the Traditional Tree has the boundary of the two worlds of Formation and Manifestation sitting just above Malkuth so that Malkuth exists alone in the material world. In the rectified Tree the boundary of the World of Manifest action sits on Malkuth.
Thus Malkuth provides a function similar to Kether.
A gateway between the World of Manifestation and the actual physical existence.
