Many Numerology sites are declaring 2018 as an 11 year or an 11/2 year. This is very misleading and confusing.
First let’s look at where they get the 11 from! Add up the digits of the year - 2 + 0 + 1 + 8 = 11. Usually you would keep adding - 1 + 1 = 2 - but because of the common principle in modern Numerology of Master Numbers (11 and 22), then you don’t reduce a master number any further. This means that when adding up or reducing that if you get to 11 or 22, then you don’t go any further. This leads to this error of interpreting a 2 as an 11 or trying to cover up by double dipping and calling it an 11/2.
The reason that the practices of Master Numbers and Reduction came into being is not really clear. There is no seminal document that explains the rationale. It is just seemingly accepted and mindlessly adhered to. One of those things that is “that’s the way it has always been done”, but nobody knows why. The common form of modern Numerology has 9 base numbers - 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and the Master Numbers 11 and 22. These numbers are used to determine your Ruling Number or Life Path. There is little reason to accept this limited view of the number of paths. It seems to be a practice that has blossomed through repetition and blind faith - copying rather than really thinking it through.
Many authors on Numerology refer to Pythagoras - the Greek Scholar - as being the father of modern numerology. Pythagoras as a mathematician worked with the numbers of our decimal system but the numbers of the decimal system are not the paths. It is reasonable to expect that Pythagoras had knowledge and understanding of the Jewish Kabbalah and the teachings of the Sepher Yetzirah - the Book of Formation. This small book spells out the Jewish belief system on the creation and formation of the cosmos and establishes that there are 10 numbers (decimal system) and 22 letters (the Hebrew alphabet). The 10 numbers exist as established states of being known as Sephiroth. Sephiroth is a Hebrew word that derives from the same root as the word sapphire. The Sephiroth are seen as shining shards of light that splintered off from the main source of light. The 22 letters are associated with 22 paths that connect between the 10 Sephiroth.
From the interpretation of the Kabbalah, the Kabbalists have developed a model known as the Tree of Life. On the Tree of Life the numbers are shown as 10 circles. These are the Sephiroth, the established states of being. Connecting the 10 circles are lines representing the 22 paths. Each path has a letter of the Hebrew alphabet and each path is numbered using the numbering system derived from the 10 numbers. Each of the letters of the Hebrew alphabet also have a numerical value that is used in the Kabbalistic form of Numerology known as Gematria. Gematria relates only to the numerology of names and words and does not have any relationship to birth dates etc.
From this information you can understand that the numbers are used to ascribe a label to each of the paths, but the paths are not the numbers. So, numerologically, the labels of the paths do not perform like numbers, such as in the mathematical reduction process - i.e. the 11 label does not reduce to 2 (1 + 1). 11 (Strength) will always be 11. 2 (the High Priestess) will always be a 2. They have relationships between their numbers and their meanings but Path 11 will always be Strength and Path 2 will always be the High Priestess. Year 2018 will always be a 2 year and not an 11.

We recommence the series of 10 at the next level. So as you can see there is a stronger relationship between 2 and 12 than with 11. The 12 is a 2 on the next level.
Perhaps you have wondered why 22 is considered to be a master number. But 22 is not a path that your soul incarnates upon in life. There is no Path 22. The 22nd path is numbered 21. This is because the numbering starts with the first path numbered 0. So 22 is important, not because it is a master number, it is important because it is the number of paths involved in the system of reincarnation. When you start applying this numbering to the paths that a soul may incarnate upon in life, then it becomes significant that there are 22 paths. There are 22 stages of growth and development and they follow an ordered sequence. None of them can be omitted or glossed over. There are few references to spiritual paths and the Kabbalah is likely the best. So when we are told there are 22 paths why would you use only part of them? Modern Numerology does not employ the paths 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21. For the sake of open-mindedness and fair reason consider my system of Numerology that has 22 paths and they flow in two cycles - like breathing - outward and then inward.
Clearly there are two matching sequences and then a third sequence commences but does not progress beyond 20 and 21 :

What we are seeing here is a key requirement of life and the Universe - the need for balance. For everything there must be another thing - a dual opposite that balances the first thing. For every front there is a back; for every head there is a tail - it cannot be any other way.
Replicating this pattern, the two series 0 to 9 and 10 to 19, represent dual opposites. This is very neat and complete, it would seem, so why do we have 20 and 21? Why do we have 22 paths in the complete series? There must be some purpose or they wouldn’t be part of the solution.
To my mind when we finish at 9 and 19 we do not have any resolution - we are left up in the air - so we must resolve 9 back to the 0 of 10 and resolve the 19 back to the 0 of 20. Once we do that we must resolve the 20, that we have just created, and that resolves back to the 1 of 21. Now we are complete. The model of the universe is a complete and balanced system.
Now, this is very ancient knowledge that was lost through the ignorance of the dark ages. As we have recovered from the oppression of this period we have only rediscovered fragments. The numbers 1 to 9, 11 and 22 are important but why they are important has not been understood. Subsequently the systems that have been built using these partial elements touch on the reality but they miss the bulls-eye. The year 2018 has the qualities of a 2 and not an 11, but because they give the interpretation of the 2 in their attributions of the 11, then in part they are right and there are shades of correct meaning but they are so subtle that they sneak their interpretations through.
To help describe and explain the subtle differences I bring in another system of 22- the cards of the Tarot Major Arcana. There are not many systems of 22 out there so when you find another matching system then you might want to pay attention to it. The relationships between the two systems are quite intriguing. I would say that whoever developed the Tarot knew their Kabbalah. Matching the 22 paths and numbers to the 22 Tarot Major Arcana cards provides the following associations:

Reflecting on the meaning of the year 2018, then you see that being a 2, the year takes on the significance of the High Priestess whereas the number 11 is Strength. The two are very different entities. Both are female or feminine entities and their subtle meanings could seem to blur and blend but the more significant aspect, the key essence, differentiates them and keeps them apart. All of the characters have strength and they also have weakness but to refer to the specific, enduring quality of strength - tenacity, quiet inner strength, gently but firmly accepting and ruling the ego - which is the dominant theme - then I am talking about the Strength card. If I am talking about a character that has balance, equanimity, intuitive wisdom and knowing, a great mind - then I am talking about the High Priestess.
Both of the cards, the High Priestess and Strength, have a close relationship with the Magician. Both of them balance the Magician in their own way. Being the number 1, the Magician is the first independent surge of energy, expanding, aggressively causing, making things happen. He is not always real wise - he is learning Wisdom and the use of the mind to control the functional aspects of the world.
The High Priestess is the number 2 that follows the Magician, resolving, absorbing, shaping the expanding masculine energy into malleable form so that the two forms of energy can work together to continue the development of the ego. The High Priestess has wisdom and is learning understanding. She is feminine energy - the dual opposite of the Magician.
The Magician is the 1st male force in the series of outward paths developing the ego. Strength is the 1st female force in the series of return inward paths developing the conscious self and overpowering the rampaging ego.
The High Priestess and Strength are two very different feminine forces. The High Priestess nurtures and supports the Magician and works with him continuing the development of the ego. Strength opposes and overpowers the ego, transforming the energy to ensure the path to mature enlightenment is open and available. Note that the High Priestess sits in front of the pillars at the entrance to the source of spiritual consciousness and enlightenment. These two women oppose each other. It is not appropriate to refer to the year 2018 as being an 11 or even an 11/2 - it is clearly a 2.
Numerologically 2017 was a 1 year. (2 + 0 + 1 + 7 = 10 = 1 + 0 = 1). Now you may wonder how do you determine if something is a ruling path of 1 or 11, 2 or 12, 3 or 13 etc. For instance I can tell you that 2026 will be an 11 year; 2027 will be a 12 year and so on. The years follow the cycles - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 - and then repeat. A complete cycle is 18 years. Each 18 year cycle is made up of two 9 year half cycles - 1 to 9 out - 11 to 19 in.
When I divide the four digit year number (2017) by 9 then I find out how many half cycles are in the year number. For example 2017 divided by 9 equals 224 with a remainder of 1. 224 tells you that there are an even number of half cycles - out and in, out and in - and the remainder 1 is at the commencement of a new outward half cycle. So it is a 1 and not an 11. To understand the difference, divide 2026 by 9 and you get 225 remainder 1. 225 tells you that there are an odd number of half cycles - out and in, out and in, out... - so in this instance the remainder 1 is an 11 at the commencement of a new inward half cycle.
What this method of calculation does is synchronise the numbers to the pattern and rhythm of life and the cosmos. Everything moves to the same vibrational pattern of 18 - 9 out and 9 in. So when you know how many half cycles are in anything then you can determine where they sit in the scheme of things. As you can see there is a big difference between being a 1 (a Magician) and an 11 (Strength). Consider the 5 of the Hierophant who is a teacher priest from ancient Egypt and the 15 which is the Devil. The conflict and the controversy are intriguing but they do balance.
There is one more thing to mention with this method of calculation. When there is a remainder - a number from 1 to 8 - this number indicates what the path number will be. It will either be a single digit or a double digit path depending upon whether it is on an outward or inward cycle. But when the remainder is 0 then the path number is either 9 or 19. When the quotient as a result of the division is even, and the remainder is 0, then the path number is 19. Otherwise when the quotient is odd, and the remainder is 0, then the path number is 9. Consider the year 2016, when divided by 9 the quotient is 224 with a remainder of 0. The remainder of 0 tells us that there is a complete balanced set of cycles in the number 2016 - meaning that the Path number is either 9 or 19. The quotient 224 tells us that it is the final path of an inward half cycle - Path number 19.
Try 2025 - divided by 9 this gives 225 remainder 0. This year ends an outward half cycle - Path number 9.
So what else is missing? You might question where is the 0, the 10, the 20 and the 21. Let’s look at theTarot cards that align with these paths.

O The Fool is often called “the traveller on the journey”. This is the soul, full of potential, incarnating into life. Similarly at the other end of the full cycle is 20 Judgment - this is the soul returning to spirit at the completion of the incarnation. The process of judgment considers how the potential of the Fool has been developed and used. To make this judgment compare the undeveloped potential of the Fool with the fully developed entity of the World 21.
The World represents everything that is at any given perceived time. It is a snapshot of an incarnation - it is an over-view. It just so happens that when Judgment makes the review it is at the end of time at the fullness of being.
The Wheel of Fortune 10, which I prefer to call the Wheel of Life, is a review process that takes place halfway through the cycle of life. Through the paths of the outward cycle (1 - 9) the ego is developed in the four human functions of intuition, thinking, feeling and doing. Before turning inward and commencing the return on the paths of the inward cycle (11 - 19) the Wheel weighs the development of the soul’s potential - again a comparison between the Fool and the developed World. From this review there is a determination made of the further development required in the second half cycle.
These 4 processes - 0, 10, 20 and 21 - occur seamlessly and invisibly, behind the scenes. They’re always there but we don’t have awareness of them in the general goings-on of life. The moment we are born we go immediately from being 0 to 1. We have no cognisance of being 0. Similarly we have no awareness of the review of the 10, the Judgment of the 20 and the return of the soul to spirit. When we practice mindfulness - being in the now - then we may have an awareness of the World 21 at this specific time.
It is worth consideration that in the Kabbalah’s Tree of Life structure there are 4 worlds identified as Atziluth (Emanation), Beriah (Creation), Yetzirah (Formation) and Assiyah (Manifestation). To differentiate between these 4 Worlds and the World Card, then think of the 4 Worlds as dimensions or planes of existence. Do the 4 processes of 0, 10, 20 and 21 match these 4 worlds? Emanation and 0 The Fool; Creation and the 10 of the Wheel of Life; Formation and the 20 of Judgment; and finally Manifestation and the 21 of the World. The alignments of the 0 and the 21 are not difficult. The Fool is the emanation of the Soul from Spirit and the World is the Manifest world. Contemplating the association between the Wheel of Life with the Creation process and Judgment with the Formation process requires some thought and may teach us something about the processes.
Considering that in this set of 4, the World 21 holds the place of Manifestation, then the idea that the Wheel of Life 10 is actual existence does not hold. The World of Creation generally relates to the function of the mind and the mental processes. So if the Wheel of Life relates to Creation then what does it create and what is the context of creation in this instance. I think the Wheel of Life creates the life condition of the 4 human functions in the manifest context. In order to live and be part of life the human entity requires 4 functional modes - intuition, thinking, feeling and doing.
Similarly how does the 20 of Judgment relate to Formation. The demise of the physical body and the return of the Soul to Spirit would not generally fit as “forming” rather it is breaking down and eliminating form. The World of Formation generally relates to feelings and the emotional processes, even the social plane. So in this instance does “Formation” relate to some other aspect of the life cycle. Following the passing of your life before your eyes, in an instant video replay, in the after-life (or in-between life) the Soul engages in planning and developing a strategy for the next incarnation. This includes emotional and social alliances with other souls. This is very much so the process of Karma in action. The things that occurred in previous incarnations will impact upon and determine future incarnations.
In the study of organisational psychology and human dynamics, there is the concept of “forming, storming, norming and performing”. This suggests that people “form” into groups (I relate this to “emanation” rather than “formation”); next they spend time “storming” - engaging in conflict until such time as they develop standards of behaviour within the group (i.e. norms). Once these “norms” are established the group can achieve a level of “performance”. If the “norms” break down then the group returns to “storming” and “norming”, eventually returning to “performing” when appropriate conditions prevail. These 4 processes can easily be related to the 4 worlds and perhaps they give a key to the relationships between 0 the Fool, 10 the Wheel, 20 Judgment and 21 the World.
In summary, 2017 was a 1 year - a new beginning after 2016 which was a 19 year at the end of a full cycle. This makes 2017 a year of the Magician - making things happen that don’t seem possible (think of Donald Trump). This year, 2018, is a 2 year - a year of the High Priestess. I am looking for some form of feminine energy to partner and soften the energy of 2017 with gentle, accepting wisdom and balance that will lead to understanding. In the following year 2019 I am expecting improvements, creative expression that comes from the marriage of wisdom and understanding. 2019 will be the year of the Empress (3). 2020 will be the year of the Emperor (4). In light of this information consider that Donald Trump’s birth number is the 4 of the Emperor and Hillary Clinton’s birth number is the 3 of the Empress. It seems the Emperor may always rule over the Empress!

Strangely Rebekah Mercer’s birth date is not available on the internet - only that she is born in December 1973/1974. Her father Robert Mercer is born 11 July 1946 - he is a ruling 2 - the High Priestess! Well what do you know? Here we have the power behind the throne! Fascinating stuff! These people are playing the energies just right. How will the High Priestess smooth out her Emperor?

Numerologically 2017 was a 1 year. (2 + 0 + 1 + 7 = 10 = 1 + 0 = 1). Now you may wonder how do you determine if something is a ruling path of 1 or 11, 2 or 12, 3 or 13 etc. For instance I can tell you that 2026 will be an 11 year; 2027 will be a 12 year and so on. The years follow the cycles - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 - and then repeat. A complete cycle is 18 years. Each 18 year cycle is made up of two 9 year half cycles - 1 to 9 out - 11 to 19 in.
When I divide the four digit year number (2017) by 9 then I find out how many half cycles are in the year number. For example 2017 divided by 9 equals 224 with a remainder of 1. 224 tells you that there are an even number of half cycles - out and in, out and in - and the remainder 1 is at the commencement of a new outward half cycle. So it is a 1 and not an 11. To understand the difference, divide 2026 by 9 and you get 225 remainder 1. 225 tells you that there are an odd number of half cycles - out and in, out and in, out... - so in this instance the remainder 1 is an 11 at the commencement of a new inward half cycle.
What this method of calculation does is synchronise the numbers to the pattern and rhythm of life and the cosmos. Everything moves to the same vibrational pattern of 18 - 9 out and 9 in. So when you know how many half cycles are in anything then you can determine where they sit in the scheme of things. As you can see there is a big difference between being a 1 (a Magician) and an 11 (Strength). Consider the 5 of the Hierophant who is a teacher priest from ancient Egypt and the 15 which is the Devil. The conflict and the controversy are intriguing but they do balance.
There is one more thing to mention with this method of calculation. When there is a remainder - a number from 1 to 8 - this number indicates what the path number will be. It will either be a single digit or a double digit path depending upon whether it is on an outward or inward cycle. But when the remainder is 0 then the path number is either 9 or 19. When the quotient as a result of the division is even, and the remainder is 0, then the path number is 19. Otherwise when the quotient is odd, and the remainder is 0, then the path number is 9. Consider the year 2016, when divided by 9 the quotient is 224 with a remainder of 0. The remainder of 0 tells us that there is a complete balanced set of cycles in the number 2016 - meaning that the Path number is either 9 or 19. The quotient 224 tells us that it is the final path of an inward half cycle - Path number 19.
Try 2025 - divided by 9 this gives 225 remainder 0. This year ends an outward half cycle - Path number 9.
So what else is missing? You might question where is the 0, the 10, the 20 and the 21. Let’s look at theTarot cards that align with these paths.
0 the Fool
10 the Wheel of Fortune (Life)
20 Judgment
21 the World
O The Fool is often called “the traveller on the journey”. This is the soul, full of potential, incarnating into life. Similarly at the other end of the full cycle is 20 Judgment - this is the soul returning to spirit at the completion of the incarnation. The process of judgment considers how the potential of the Fool has been developed and used. To make this judgment compare the undeveloped potential of the Fool with the fully developed entity of the World 21.
The World represents everything that is at any given perceived time. It is a snapshot of an incarnation - it is an over-view. It just so happens that when Judgment makes the review it is at the end of time at the fullness of being.
The Wheel of Fortune 10, which I prefer to call the Wheel of Life, is a review process that takes place halfway through the cycle of life. Through the paths of the outward cycle (1 - 9) the ego is developed in the four human functions of intuition, thinking, feeling and doing. Before turning inward and commencing the return on the paths of the inward cycle (11 - 19) the Wheel weighs the development of the soul’s potential - again a comparison between the Fool and the developed World. From this review there is a determination made of the further development required in the second half cycle.
These 4 processes - 0, 10, 20 and 21 - occur seamlessly and invisibly, behind the scenes. They’re always there but we don’t have awareness of them in the general goings-on of life. The moment we are born we go immediately from being 0 to 1. We have no cognisance of being 0. Similarly we have no awareness of the review of the 10, the Judgment of the 20 and the return of the soul to spirit. When we practice mindfulness - being in the now - then we may have an awareness of the World 21 at this specific time.
It is worth consideration that in the Kabbalah’s Tree of Life structure there are 4 worlds identified as Atziluth (Emanation), Beriah (Creation), Yetzirah (Formation) and Assiyah (Manifestation). To differentiate between these 4 Worlds and the World Card, then think of the 4 Worlds as dimensions or planes of existence. Do the 4 processes of 0, 10, 20 and 21 match these 4 worlds? Emanation and 0 The Fool; Creation and the 10 of the Wheel of Life; Formation and the 20 of Judgment; and finally Manifestation and the 21 of the World. The alignments of the 0 and the 21 are not difficult. The Fool is the emanation of the Soul from Spirit and the World is the Manifest world. Contemplating the association between the Wheel of Life with the Creation process and Judgment with the Formation process requires some thought and may teach us something about the processes.
Considering that in this set of 4, the World 21 holds the place of Manifestation, then the idea that the Wheel of Life 10 is actual existence does not hold. The World of Creation generally relates to the function of the mind and the mental processes. So if the Wheel of Life relates to Creation then what does it create and what is the context of creation in this instance. I think the Wheel of Life creates the life condition of the 4 human functions in the manifest context. In order to live and be part of life the human entity requires 4 functional modes - intuition, thinking, feeling and doing.
Similarly how does the 20 of Judgment relate to Formation. The demise of the physical body and the return of the Soul to Spirit would not generally fit as “forming” rather it is breaking down and eliminating form. The World of Formation generally relates to feelings and the emotional processes, even the social plane. So in this instance does “Formation” relate to some other aspect of the life cycle. Following the passing of your life before your eyes, in an instant video replay, in the after-life (or in-between life) the Soul engages in planning and developing a strategy for the next incarnation. This includes emotional and social alliances with other souls. This is very much so the process of Karma in action. The things that occurred in previous incarnations will impact upon and determine future incarnations.
In the study of organisational psychology and human dynamics, there is the concept of “forming, storming, norming and performing”. This suggests that people “form” into groups (I relate this to “emanation” rather than “formation”); next they spend time “storming” - engaging in conflict until such time as they develop standards of behaviour within the group (i.e. norms). Once these “norms” are established the group can achieve a level of “performance”. If the “norms” break down then the group returns to “storming” and “norming”, eventually returning to “performing” when appropriate conditions prevail. These 4 processes can easily be related to the 4 worlds and perhaps they give a key to the relationships between 0 the Fool, 10 the Wheel, 20 Judgment and 21 the World.
In summary, 2017 was a 1 year - a new beginning after 2016 which was a 19 year at the end of a full cycle. This makes 2017 a year of the Magician - making things happen that don’t seem possible (think of Donald Trump). This year, 2018, is a 2 year - a year of the High Priestess. I am looking for some form of feminine energy to partner and soften the energy of 2017 with gentle, accepting wisdom and balance that will lead to understanding. In the following year 2019 I am expecting improvements, creative expression that comes from the marriage of wisdom and understanding. 2019 will be the year of the Empress (3). 2020 will be the year of the Emperor (4). In light of this information consider that Donald Trump’s birth number is the 4 of the Emperor and Hillary Clinton’s birth number is the 3 of the Empress. It seems the Emperor may always rule over the Empress!
I wrote the previous paragraph yesterday and this morning I read a news report concerning Robert Mercer and his daughter, Rebekah Mercer - billionaires who have supported the Trump campaign. Strangely Rebekah Mercer’s birth date is not available on the internet - only that she is born in December 1973/1974. Her father Robert Mercer is born 11 July 1946 - he is a ruling 2 - the High Priestess! Well what do you know? Here we have the power behind the throne! Fascinating stuff! These people are playing the energies just right. How will the High Priestess smooth out her Emperor?
