The world of the living soul
Today, Wednesday April 22, is Earth Day 2020.
In my structure of the Tree of Life, which is different from the traditional Kabbalistic Tree of Life, Earth, the World of the Living Soul (Nephesh), exists below the Sephiroth Malkuth (Kingdom), at the opposite end of the Tree of Life from the Spiritual Source (Ain Soph Aur meaning Absolute Limitless Light).
There are 4 Kabbalistic Worlds on the Tree of Life (Emanation, Creation, Formation and Manifestation). On the Middle Pillar of the Tree of Life, there are 4 Gateways of Consciousness that transcend between these Kabbalistic Words. These Gateways of Consciousness identify with the 4 Sephiroth on the Middle Pillar (Kether, Tiphareth, Yesod and Malkuth). The idea that Malkuth is a Gateway of Consciousness means that it transcends from the Kabbalistic World of Manifestation to some other world below it. The path of the Wheel of Life descends downwards below Malkuth, rotates, weighs and returns upwards to Malkuth. In this circle created by the Wheel of Life there exists our Earth, the World of the Living Soul.
The adapted Tree of Life structure is shown below:
Nephesh is what everything condenses into. This is the medium of life which the Soul requires in order to have meaningful experiences. The Soul experience and the Living experience exist like macro and micro following the principle “As above, so below”.
On the Tree of Life there are 4 Kabbalistic Worlds (Atziluth, Beriah, Yetzirah and Assiyah). These explain the 4 layered psychological structure of the Living Soul.
The psychology of Carl Jung identifies 4 human functions (Intuition, Thinking, Feeling and Sensation). People and personalities can be defined in terms of these 4 functions. It is reasonably clear that the two sets of terms are closely related and interchangeable.
It is intended that we live our life “on earth as it is in heaven”, as the prayer that Jesus taught informs us. It is no mystery that Jesus was Jewish and understood the Jewish Kabbalah and the Tree of Life. The Lord’s Prayer was later added to by the Christian Church, adding the Doxology “for thine is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory, forever and ever, amen”. It is no coincidence that Kingdom, Power and Glory are the names of the 3 lowest emanations or Sephiroth on the Tree of Life.
The movement of the Soul into the dense form of the Living Soul sees the development of the Ego. This is then balanced by the movement of the Soul, returning upward through the same 4 layers again, seeking enlightenment and the development of the Higher Conscious Self and Spiritual Consciousness.
In the densest form of the human body, the spiritual intuitive sense is blanketed, shielded from direct contact with the Spiritual Source, by the dense physical body. This explains the archetype of the Hermit, the lowest form of the developed Ego. The path of the Hermit (IX) is directly counter-set against the path of the Sun (XIX). Each of these paths is set at the end of the Soul’s journey, outward and inward respectively. Similarly, the paths of the Magician (I) and Strength (XI) are counter-set against each other, each at the beginning of the Soul’s journey, outward and inward respectively.

Seeking enlightenment, the Soul ascends on the upward arc of the Wheel of Life (X) and experiences the inward paths.
The purpose of the Living Soul is to learn the lessons of Spirit whilst in the physical body. During the period of our life on Earth we continually navigate the paths of the Soul in our earthly development. Our goal is to find balance between the Ego and the Enlightened Self whilst in the dense physical body. At the end of this life we travel the upward paths of the Soul and return to Spirit, achieving the enlightenment of the Soul.
The current Lightning Struck Tower experience of Covid-19 seems to be enforcing these learnings and we can only hope that globally we are on the brink of raising our level of consciousness on the path of the Star that follows the Tower. The Star is the first path returning to the World of Beriah which is the world of creation and the processes of the mind. The keyword meaning of the Star is Hope and the path of the Star returns from the Sephira Tiphareth, meaning Beauty, to the Sephira Binah, meaning Understanding. The Star re-establishes the stars in the heavens whilst balancing and calming the physical and the emotional, preparing us for returning to the spiritual. She signifies a new way of thinking.
On Earth Day 2020 perhaps, we can all seek to raise our vibration and the vibration of the Earth to a new level of Environmental Consciousness.
Take care out there!
Regards… Mark (The Hanged Man).
